PINEHURST DIAGNOSTIC ULTRASOUND OFFERS NON-INVASIVE TESTS THAT GO BEYOND NORMAL HEALTHCARE SCREENINGS. WE CAN SCREEN FOR CARDIO-VASCULAR DISEASE, STROKE ASSESSMENT RISK,  AND MUCH MORE. INEXPENSIVE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH THAT COULD POTENTIALLY SAVE YOUR LIFE.

CAROTID ARTERY DISEASE SCREENING

Your carotid arteries are the two large blood vessels in your neck that supply blood to your brain. When these arteries become clogged with cholesterol (PLAQUE), they become  narrow. If a blood clot occurs in the carotid arteries, then blood cannot reach your brain and a stroke can result.

AORTIC ANEURYSM SCREENING

Ultrasound is used to screen for the existence of an aneurysm (enlargement) in the abdominal aorta that could lead to a ruptured aortic artery and could cause death. We will also screen for plaque within the aorta.

CAROTID INTIMA-MEDIA SCREENING

The carotid intima-media thickness test (CIMT) is a measure used to diagnose the extent of carotid atherosclerotic vascular disease. The test measures the thickness of the inner two layers of the carotid artery - the intima and media - and alerts physicians to any thickening when patients are still asymptomatic. Early detection may indicate the need for a more aggressive approach to managing the risk factors associated with heart disease and stroke.
